Abstract
A classical problem in enumerative geometry is to count the number of irreducible genus-g, degree-d curves in the complex projective plane that pass through 3d-1+g generic points. These counts are now known as the Gromov-Witten invariants of the complex projective plane.
In this talk, we will first introduce the basic concepts of the moduli space of stable maps and Gromov-Witten invariants, then review the computational methods developed in the existing literature. We will further apply these structural results to the case of the complex projective plane and investigate the asymptotic behavior of its Gromov-Witten invariants. This talk is based on joint work with Professor Gang Tian and Dr. Tianhang Xu.
Speaker's Bio
Shuai Guo is a Boya Distinguished Professor and the Director of the Mathematical Physics Teaching and Research Section at the School of Mathematical Sciences, Peking University. He received his Bachelor's degree in Basic Science from the Department of Physics, Tsinghua University, in 2006, and his Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics from the Department of Mathematics, Tsinghua University, in 2011. His primary research area is mathematical physics, with a particular focus on mirror symmetry and enumerative geometry in high genus. In this field, he has successfully resolved a series of long-standing mathematical conjectures open for over two decades, attracting widespread attention from the international community. He has published numerous papers in top-tier international mathematics journals, including Annals of Mathematics and Forum of Mathematics, Pi. He has been selected for the National Support Program for Young Top-Notch Talent, received funding from the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and has been awarded honors such as the Qiu Shi Outstanding Young Scholar Award, the Ministry of Education Youth Science Award, the Mao Yisheng Beijing Youth Science and Technology Award, and the China Youth Science and Technology Award.
